• Music Teaching Artist: Dave Fry
Dave Fry is a folksinger; adult, children's and family-music performer, arts entrepreneur, arts educator, former radio programmer and artistic director, all rolled up in one.
Dave's work has appeared on PBS-TV nationally, with his "Play Guitar with Dave Fry" DVD and also winning best Children's Programming in PA in 1991 with his RockRoots program. He is a charter member of Pennsylvania Performing Artists on Tour since 1997. His "I Like Peanut Butter" CD won Best Re-release from the Children's Music Web in 1999. He has been associated with Young Audiences of New Jersey and Eastern PA for many years, and has been named Master Artists by the state of New Jersey and now Connecticut, as well. Dave also founded and was Artistic Director of Godfrey Daniels, the nationally recognized South Bethlehem folk club, for 25 years.
Instrumentally, Dave is adept at flat picking, finger picking and plays a remarkably percussive rhythm guitar. Dave adds mandolin and banjo, and will often put down his instruments for a raucous a capella song.
Dave is a wonderful entertainer of the preschool set, with silly songs, old favorites, folk, rock n' roll and play songs that capture the joy of making music, family-style. Dave is part of the PASELA project, an arts and literacy program on the Southside of Bethlehem, in conjunction with Northampton Community College, and has done seminars on early childhood music. He also has been on the faculty of Pennsylvania Youth Theatre in Bethlehem, teaching music and movement to toddlers and primary students and was a performing actor with Touchstone Theatre for many years.
Dave moved to Madison, Connecticut from the Lehigh Valley in 2001 with his two children, Rosalie (16) and Jaimie (13), and his wife Kim Wilson.
